Wednesday

Beware the full moon cometh!

Did you miss the last Art Lot Slot of 2009?

I was joined by tailor-extraordinaire Rowland Oxland who seems to have caught the radio bug! We had a brief lookback over the year and played a good selection of Rowland's music.

You can listen in again on Sunday, which of course will be 2010! That's Sunday January third at 3 PM.

My next guest on January 12 will be young photographer Milo Newman: check out his website on http://www.milonewman.com/ ...his work is really amazing!

Monday

That was the year that was!

This week's Art Lot Slot tomorrow December 29 is, of course, the last of the year. So, I'll  be looking back at the year and reflecting on all the wonderful guests who came into the studio and told me about their work and their lives.

I will be joined by tailor-extraordinaire Rowland Oxland...this will be his third time with me on Stroud FM...I reckon he's caught the radio bug!

Join us for a musical farewell to 2009.

Wednesday

Today at 3!

You can hear actor-director Chris Garner [pictured right in rehearsal with 'Owen']  revealing all about his most embarrassessing moment on stage...and explaining how being a Buddhist is not [as I had thought] in any way at odds with being an actor: yes, listen in to my ART LOT repeat today Sunday December 20 at 3pm.

Chris also urged aspiring playwrights to contact him via his webiste [http://www.stroudtheatrecompany.co.uk/]...and if anyone wants more details about the Buddhism he practises, then email me [swithinfry@gmail.com] and I'll send your message through to him.

Monday

The actor and the Buddha

My ART LOT guest tomorrow December 15 is actor-director Chris Garner who has lived in Stroud for 10 years and runs Stroud Theatre Company [www.stroudtheatrecompany.co.uk]

Chris is a practising Buddhist...which intrigues me: as far as I know, a leading principle of Buddhism is Mindfulness, being in the 'now', being within oneself; yet, as an actor, he is the mind and body of someone else, the playwright's character.

This is going to be a really interesting and inspiring interview.

Listen in! 4 to 5 December 15, repeated following Sunday at 3pm.

Hi Swithin,

Yes, there is something I'd love to have publicised - a book written by my grandmother, Effie M. Roberts in WW2 (published as 'A Wartime Poetry Journal'). It's a fabulous Christmas present for those older relatives and friends who you don't know what to buy for. It's interesting to anybody who is interested in women's history or poetry as well.

I do lots of readings from it, mostly for senior groups but I have also read for local history groups and U3A. A lot of it is quite humorous. I'll attach the leaflet about it. As I mentioned there are letterpress editions too.

I could come in and talk about how I started the publishing company, while living in Stroud too if you like.

Best,

Philippa

Rowland and...

Well, did you listen in last Tuesday and find out how fate changed tailor-extraordinaire Rowland Oxland's career from one of Punk stardom to one of 'suit you, sir!'. No! Well, tune in again tomorrow Sunday December 5 at 3pm and listen to the repeat!

It just so has it that Rowland and I will be hosting next Friday's Breakfast Show together [December 11 7 to 9am] so listen in to that too...we'll make waking up to yet another Friday a real pleasure!!

My ART LOT guest on Tuesday December 15 will be actor-director Chris Garner. He has lived in Stroud for 10 years and now runs his own company, Stroud Theatre Company [www.stroudtheatrecompany.co.uk]

More of Chris nearer the time!
