Wednesday

Those Gremlins have been at it again ... and while I was away sunning myself in Italy and hearing that my play has been selected for the Everyman Autumn series, the Stroud FM play-out was playing-up ...

And so the last two programmes didn't get broadcast ... so many apologies to all my listeners ... and apologies to to the guests on those programmes ... that's playwrights Richard Roby and Miranda Walker; and actor Gregor Hunt and playwright Martin Lytton.

Gregor and Martin can be heard again on Tuesday October 5 at 4 PM, repeated the following Sunday, October 10 at 3 PM.

It's really great interview that I had with them both -- and chatted about Lazarus, Martin's play from last year's Autumn series ... Gregor was the actor who played Lazarus.

Listen in, you won't be disappointed.

If you follow my blog, you know that my play, Sunset Stripped, was accepted for this year's Autumn Play series at the Everyman Studio Theatre, Cheltenham.

Set in Cape Town in 1948, the year in which apartheid is declared, it tells how young Edward, returning from a childhood in England, finds life in both the country and his home very different to his expectations.

Here are all the plays being showcased and the dates :
THE LAST SUPPER OF PAOLO VERONESE – Martin Lytton (Weds 13th Oct)
MABON ROSE – Glenn Andrews (Thurs 14th Oct)
SUNSET STRIPPED – Swithin Fry (Fri 15th Oct)
THE QUESTION OF DOG – Alice Jolly (Sat 16th Oct)
Wednesday to Thursday at 745; Saturday at 8 ...

Tickets are selling well though there are still plenty of empty seats ... so please show your support for all as local writers ... the tickets are only £5, and if you buy a ticket for all four shows it will cost £15 -- four for the price of three -- a bargain you can't refuse!

Totally amazing news....read! read!

Here's some totally amazing news ... my play, Sunset Stripped, has been accepted!

I submitted a script to the Autumn Plays coming up at Cheltenham's Everyman Studio Theatre early next month, and while I was away soaking up the sun in Italy, I had an e-mail saying mine was one of the four accepted.

This is ground-shaking news for me -- I've been honing my playwriting skills for some three years now, and this is the first time work of mine has actually been performed.

The Autumn Plays link in to The Everyman’s Writers Lab which has some 20 playwrights; every year, the Studio Theatre is given over to putting on plays written by us.

A professional director and professional actors get a script in the morning and have all day to rehearse. The plays are then performed script-in-hand in the evening.

Here are the plays and dates:
THE LAST SUPPER OF PAOLO VERONESE – Martin Lytton (Weds 13th Oct)
MABON ROSE – Glenn Andrews (Thurs 14th Oct)
SUNSET STRIPPED – Swithin Fry (Fri 15th Oct)
THE QUESTION OF DOG – Alice Jolly (Sat 16th Oct)
I haven't had times yet, but I'll blog about ASAP.

If you missed Tuesday's show with playwright Martin Lytton and actor Gregor Hunt talking about Martin’s thought-provokingly controversial play Lazarus (selected for the Writers Lab plays last year] you can catch it again at 3 PM this Sunday, September 26.

Tune in! 107.9FM locally, or from http://www.stroudfm.co.uk/ anywhere in the world!

The final Art Lot Everyman Series on Tuesday, October 5, will hopefully be interviews with the four directors producing this year's Autumn Plays.

I shall be asking them what attracted them to the play; and to say what they feel makes that particular play a ‘don't miss’ event.

This will go out on Tuesday, October 5 at four, all ready for the start of the plays the following week beginning October 11. This is repeated on Sunday, October 10 at three.
