If you want to hear a young musician who's really going places, then tune in to The Art Lot this afternoon ... because my guest, contemporary folk musician and singer Gill Sandell, is certainly heading for the tops.
Gill is accompanied by Art Lot-veteran (not a reference to her age!) violinist Anna Jenkins.
They brought their instruments into the studio and play several tracks from Gill's debut album Tarry Awhile. It's brilliant!
Gill has a new single coming out, and she and Anna play the top-side of that ... Gill has a unique sound ... so tune in and listen!
Anna, who was one of my first guests on the show with her musical partner Johnny Barlow, tells how her musical career has progressed since coming on The Art Lot nearly three years ago.
They both talk about how music became so prominent in their lives ... and there's a little bit of advice for young people with a passion for music ... so tune in and listen!
Both Gill and Anna are the supporting act for an ambitious tour with Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo (who have recently provided the title music for the BBC2 Drama series 'The Shadow Line'). If you didn't catch them in Stroud recently, here are the future dates in October:
Thurs 20th- Fibbers, York 08444 771 000
Gill also sent me extracts some reviews. Look at these : "I am smitten by her beautiful music." For Folk's Sake
"... breathlessly pretty voice." R2*** (Rock n Reel)
"A sweet and tender album, a rare beauty.” Northern Sky

RED DOG AUTUMN TOUR 2011
“There are eight years of mourning ahead of us. While it lasts not even the wind will get into this house”.
But nothing can stop the growing tide of desire of Bernada Alba's five daughters. As the frustrated tension mounts, each holds on to their longings, jealousies and hopes for the attentions of the virile Pepe Romano, promised in marriage to one of them.
Following their successful tour and London run of Naomi Wallace's One Flea Spare, Red Dog now brings Federico Garcia Lorca's final masterpiece 'The House of Bernarda Alba' to the stage in a new adaption by Kate Littlewood. In the 75th anniversary year of Lorca's death this is a stunning theatrical journey into the imagination of a great poetic writer, a theatre giant at the height of his powers.
This production is touring until December.
