It's true! AND Miranda's play AND passion!

Tuesday, May 17 at 4pm…repeated Sunday, May 22 at 3 PM

Ø      True Stories!
Ø      A play by Art Lot guest Miranda Walker!
Ø      Living a passionate life ...

It’s all me these days; me ... me ... me!

Yes, even the Art Lot -- for the next show was recorded at the True Stories Told Live event at the Star Anise Art Cafe recently.

Organised by the wonderfully-efficient Cynthia Whelan, this event featured Fiona Eadie, George Krasker, Jo Woolley, Josie Felce and none other than me ... me ... me!

And we even had musical accompaniment by accordionist Trevor Smith.

As I say, it was recorded at Star Anise, so please persevere with the rather poor quality sound recording. Apologies must go to George, because in the middle of this talk there was a terrifically heavy downpour of rain which beat so loudly on the room’s skylight that the recording was unusable. Apologies as well to Jo and Trevor as I had to cut some of Jo's story and most of Trevor's music to fit into Art Lot’s hour.

Please persevere: the stories are all fascinating ... and, of course, true.

After the stories, there is a radio play by Art Lot guest Miranda Walker ... it's really good ... I don't want to spoil it ... just listen in!

The next Live Storytelling is on June 4 ... if you're interested in telling your story, then telephone Cynthia on 07754472661 or 01452 814233.

Fiona, whose poignantly funny story you will hear in this Art Lot, is leading a Storytelling Walk with musician Ruth Liengaard as part of the Nailsworth Festival on Sunday May 22nd .

Starting from Ruskin Mill at 230, it involves a gentle walk of about two hours with story-telling breaks along the way. The price is £3 for adults and £1.50 for children.

You will need to book by phoning Ruskin Mill on (01453) 837537.

Art Lot guest Annabel Hollis has sent me this:

"Living a Passionate and Creative Life": Isbourne Holistic Centre, Cheltenham on Thurs  June 23rd, 7-9pm.

“In celebration of her recently published mini-
book, "Coming Home to Earth - Seeing the World Anew" Annabel Hollis’ talk will explore how a deepened connection to nature, your inner wisdom and creativity will support and inspire you to live the life you passionately desire but have never dared to embrace. Be prepared for a lively and interactive evening.

“Annabel has given several public talks on the “Wisdom and Creative Power of Dreams”, and also runs a dream group in Stroud.

She is a writer and artist, and dreams are a key source of creative inspiration. Honouring the cycle of the year and its seasons also has a deep influence, and looking after a garden including growing vegetables nourishes this connection.

She facilitates creative workshops as well as practising as a massage therapist. She is a founding member of the U.K. Spiritual Crisis Network.

Art Lot guest Arthur Edwards sent in this:
Financial Literacy for Free Initiative & The Financial Drivers License Course

7.30-9.00pm, Friday 6th May
The Centre For Science and Art
Lansdown, Stroud, GL5 1BB
£8 / £5 entrance.

A lecture presentation aimed at young adults, parents, teachers and interested parties, followed-up by a 4-evening course (The Financial Drivers Licence – 10/12/17/19 May) over the next two weeks.

Young people today need to know about money – but what and how do they learn about it? This evening presentation offers an introduction to the subject which is followed up by 4 highly practical sessions designed to give young people some of the tools they will need to orient themselves in an increasingly complex world. It includes financial planning, an introduction to accounting and ideas about initiative and self-employment.

Arthur Edwards (arthuredwards.net) is undertaking doctoral research at Bristol University looking at the societal nature of financial literacy. He has written extensively on the subject (including a study looking at economics in a Waldorf context), given courses around the world and is involved in an international collaboration to inform and transform the way Waldorf students work with money, finance, and enterprise. Further details are available on request mail@arthuredwards.net / 01453 756728. Booking required.

From a former student:
I think this has been a very good course to do. I have even enjoyed it! I think the things we learnt in this course are very helpful. It was very interesting to see exactly what it cost me to live each month, and compare it with the average cost of living. It was also interesting to realise how I don't really know how much money I spend and on what, and to then see what it is I do spend my money on. I think we have learned very valuable skills in this course. Learning how to keep accounts properly I think is very useful and I feel more confident now that if I were to come up with a good idea for a business, I would know a little better what I'm dealing with and how to go about getting it going. This course has also been helpful for me in finally getting my "business" together, and has helped me to consider it carefully first and know how to work out all the financial speculations.
